Biography:

Russ Sharer is a marketing professional with over 25 years of experience in business-to-business marketing, including successful software and network equipment start-ups.  He has also served as marketing, sales and/or business development officer in public companies such as Ericsson and Rockwell.  His expertise is helping businesses figure out how to grow by better understanding their markets and opportunities; honing products, messaging and sales strategies to fit with real customer demand; and building marketing and sales channels, partnerships and programs to succeed.  He has worked extensively in North America and Europe.  He has also been involved with seven successful M&A efforts.

Since beginning work as a consultant in 2011, Russ has been advising start-up businesses with business planning and helping them raise capital, as well as building low-cost, high-results sales plans. Russ was previously at Occam Networks, serving as Vice President of Marketing helping the company to become a top supplier of broadband equipment in North America, and as Vice President of Marketing and Sales when in 2006 Deloitte Touche named the company Fastest Growing High Technology Company in North America.  At Occam he was the lead marketing executive as the company grew from a pre-product start-up to over $100M in annual revenue, and helped Occam build the number one brand in its market.  He led all marketing and sales due diligence on Occam’s three acquisitions, and helped the company launch its products and sales efforts in North American and EMEA markets. Previously he held executive roles at Ericsson, where he led the launch of its IP Network Backbone solutions offering, now a part of all 3G and LTE networks; and Xircom where he ran the LAN adapter business.  He also led the marketing and sales effort for MediaOne in the launch of Connect, its entertainment oriented CLEC built to deliver connectivity and services for the motion picture and television industry.

Dennis Huber is President of MJH Consulting, LLC.  He is a seasoned executive who has a history of successfully leading dynamic organizations to achieve improvements in revenue growth, cost management and operational performance.  It is his understanding of Network and Information Technology coupled with his marketing experience, understanding of business processes, strength in building teams and ability to work across organization boundaries that has made him so effective.

John experienced over 33 years on the leading edge of the telecom industry as a recognized leader of innovation and successful general management. He has been one of the driving forces in the explosive growth in wireless voice and data with global leaders in the telecom industry. His last 14 years in telecom were with Sprint Inc. where he held various senior level positions including President of the CDMA Wireless Business Unit. In this position John was responsible for over $27 billion in revenue, P&L for the business unit, strategic direction and marketing. During this period he led major branding, product and service initiatives including the “Now Network” campaign, the launch of Samsung’s first response to the iPhone (The Instinct), and the revolutionary “Simply Everything” rate plan.

 

Previously, Garcia was Chief Marketing Officer for Sprint, responsible for the $900 million Advertising and Sponsorship programs, pricing, product development and marketing research and CRM. He also held the position of SVP of Product and the SVP Sales and Distribution. During these tenures he also managed the Handset division responsible for partnering with various international manufacturers in developing, purchasing and managing $4-5 billion in equipment annually – this included forward and reverse logistics management. Garcia also introduced the MVNO concept to the US and developed programs resulting in partnerships with innovative carriers such as Virgin Mobile, ESPN, Disney and Boost Mobile.

 

Prior to his role as President, John served as President of Sprint’s Joint Venture with Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communication. He led the effort to build a comprehensive strategy around the convergence of mobile communications with home information and entertainment. This venture eventually became Clear Wireless.

 

After leaving Sprint, John has had several extended consulting roles with major companies. In the role of Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, he helped YRCW, the nation’s largest LTL transportation carrier revamp their sales and marketing efforts as they faced a severe financial situation. Their revamped sales strategy and operating plan was an important ingredient in their return to financial stability and market success.

Garcia most recently assisted vRide, a company held by the TPG investment firm. In the role of Chief Revenue Officer, John led a rebranding campaign for the nation’s largest “van commuter” company formerly known as VPSI. He also reorganized the field team to become more sales focused, developed sales training, operations guides, commission programs and a company-wide sales culture. John also led the rationalization of the company’s customer facing IT platforms and the development of a new website.
